I find this blue banner quite relaxing.

My YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/JohnMatthewVO) has received over 6,000 upload views in it’s first year – pretty cool! But a good part of that is thanks to just one spot. About 4 months ago, a YouTube user posted a comment on one of my Toyota commercials, wanting to know the name of the song. Here is the clip in question:

I didn’t know myself, and suggested they try the Shazam app, which identifies music from short clips. A little while later I noticed that the view count on that video had shot up, way past all my other posts. I did a little digging and found that someone (probably but not necessarily the same person) had reposted the video on a site called Adtunes.

Adtunes (http://adtunes.com/) describes itself as ”…an ad music website that serves as a guide to music used in television commercials, TV shows, movie trailers, film soundtracks, video games and more.” It features news, forums, links and a store (which, curiously, in addition to music and DVDs, seems to sell pretty much everything).

So if you want to identify a music track you’ve heard recently, chat about movies and TV, watch a clip of Stephen Colbert making fun of the The Black Keys and Vampire Weekend for selling out – or buy a lawnmower – Adtunes is the place to go. I’ve poked around the site a little and it’s a fun resource for music and entertainment people, whether fans or professionals.

Enjoy!

This is in response to a Plinky prompt (www.plinky.com)

The best things about working in voiceover, off the top of my head, are:

1. I really like what I do!

2. I don’t have to sit in front of a computer for 8 hours a day (more like 3 or 4).

3. My schedule is flexible.

4. I meet a lot of interesting people.

5. I can make good money in a short space of time.

6. I enjoy helping and encouraging others in their voiceover careers.

7. It’s really cool to hear yourself on TV!

8. Each booking or new job feels like a victory.

9. Each project is different.

10. There’s always something new to learn.
